The new transformer achieves superior isolation and electrical clearance/creepage distance in a compact component size

Designed for high power density and efficiency in compact sizes, Bourns continues to offer a range of highly isolated flyback and gate drive transformers with increased capabilities to meet the growing demand for power density in today's automotive, industrial and energy storage designs. The characteristics of Bourns® HVMA transformers make them an ideal solution for isolating power across voltage systems in electric vehicles, transistor gate drives, high-voltage battery management systems, and hybrid electric vehicles. In addition, the series effectively supports high-frequency silicon carbide (SiC), insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and gallium nitride (GaN) switching components used in wide-band gap designs.

Bourns has proven design expertise in the development of miniaturized advanced magnetic structures. This latest transformer meets IEC standards for isolation and high electrical clearance/creepage distance, and features a cutting-edge mechanical and electrical design that helps improve system performance and safety. The Bourns® HVMA03F40C-ST10S offers a surface mount package with a 10 mm creepage distance that designers can leverage to support operating voltages up to 900 V on existing platforms or to simplify the design of new platforms. In addition, the 3-watt flyback transformer supports a switching frequency range of 100 kHz to 400 kHz and an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +155 °C.
